I am an associate research professor at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and work in the Office of the Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor and the Department of Psychology in the College of Arts and Sciences. For seventy percent of my time I am working on the Higher Learning Commission Accreditation Reaffirmation as the one-voice writer on a team of faculty and administrators. For thirty percent of my time I administer UMKC’s Propel Program, a college program for students with intellectual developmental disabilities.
In my spare time, although I have not had much of it lately, I am a fine art photographer and a writer. I also enjoy working on the century-old house my partner and I restored in an area known as midtown in Kansas City. I enjoy problem-solving and devising solutions based on insight and creativity. I have a passion for working on social justice issues, especially in urban education. For the past twelve years, I have volunteered on the board of Hogan Preparatory Academy – a public charter school district in Kansas City, Missouri. I am in my second term as board char/president.
